Philip Centennial kicks off with a St. Patrick's Day theme

And they’re off! ... The timed wheelbarrow race was a four-person team effort with a pusher, rider and a container of green fluid with a people-switch half way through. The team called Bill’s Blogs won this event during the Centennial Kick-off. Here, Brandon West pushes a teammate. For more photos, see inside this issue.

Philip's Centennial Celebration got an early kick-off when combined with St. Patrick's Day. A sidewalk parade with entrants dressed in old-time apparel, as wel as St. Pat's green, was led by the Community Betterment Committee with their own rendition of "Happy Birthday, Philip."

In the hour-and-a-half long event, main street was closed off for the parade, as well as wheelbarrow races, Shamrock Quarter Drop and Golf Ball Push, as well as serving of brats, hot dogs and homemade mint green ice cream.

Everyone is invited to Philip's Centennial Celebration in June - 14 thru 17 - where many, many events, along with an All School Reunion, are being planned. For updates on the June celebration, log on to: www.philipsouthdakota.com.
