Philip boys take second at region golf

The Philip Scottie boys' golf team placed second at the Regional Golf Tournament Monday, May 17, at Hart Ranch, Rapid City.

The Philip boys shot a combined 291. Caleb Clements took the individual third place with a day's score of 87. Tristen Rush finished seventh with a score of 99. Devon Ehlers earned 10th place with a score of 105. Richie Baye had a score of 125.

The boys team will compete at the State Golf Tournament in Aberdeen, May 24-25.

"We finally had some nice golfing weather with a sunny, warm day, and not 30 mph winds," said Philip coach Doug Hauk. "Tyana Gottsleben and Katlin Knutson competed individually for the Philip girls' golf team. Katlin tied for 13th place. The young girls did a great job for their first regional golf tournament, especially being the first time the girls have played at Hart Ranch.

The Wall girls' team took first place with a final score of 325. Newell shot 368 for second place. Bison earned third with a score of 370. Lemmon, with a score of 450, took fourth and Hill City took fifth with a 562.

The boys' teams were lead by Wall with a final score of 278. Following behind Philip's 291, was Lemmon's 299. Other teams and their scores were Newell - 320, White River - 320, Jones County - 329, Bison - 385, Rapid City Christian - 391 and Hill City - 407.
