Philip beats Kadoka 28-0
The Philip Scotties brought home their first win last Friday night with a 28-0 win over the Kadoka Kougars.
The first quarter had barely begun with 11:38 still on the clock, when Ty Fees ran 73 yards for the first touchdown. Fees kicked for the extra point. Scottie defense held the Kougars to a standstill for the quarter as well as for the rest of the game.
The second quarter was highlighted with a 5 yard run by Fees for 6 points. The extra point attempt failed.
With only 45 seconds left in the third quarter, Dana Kerns was given the ball for a 1 yard run to the goal line. Fees made good on another kick.
Fourth quarter saw yet another touchdown for the Scotties. Kerns passed 13 yards to Billy Seager for the touchdown. Brit Miller ran the ball in for the 2 extra points.
Kerns was 3 for 6 passes for 51 yards and 1 touchdown. Bo Slovek used his 1 catch to gain 19 yards for the Scotties. Fees carried the ball 11 times for 125 yards gained. Slovek ran with the ball 13 times to go 65 yards. Kerns had 12 carries for 62 yards.
John Hart had 3 solo tackles and 7 assists. Slovek also had 3 solo tackles and 5 assists. Fees had 2 solos and 6 assists.
Kadoka earned 16 first downs; compared to the Scotties’ 23. Kadoka fumbled twice and threw one interception. Kadoka had four penalties that lost them 25 yards. Philip lost 60 yards due to 8 penalties.
The next Scotties’ game is on October 1 at Timber Lake. Homecoming is October 8 against White River.
