The Philip boys' and girls' track team competed in the Center of the Nation Track and Field Invitational at Belle Fourche Saturday, April 17.

"We had two more state qualifiers, Casey Cvach in the 400 meter dash in a time of 52.22 and Holly Iwan in the 3200 meter run in a time of 12:34.93," said Philip head track coach Jerry Rhodes. "It was one of those cool and blustery days with the runners finishing into a fairly hard wind, so over all we had some respectful times."

The girls' team results had the Philip Scotties in second place with 84 points, behind Custer with its 101.5 points. Belle Fourche took third with 72. Other participating South Dakota schools were Harding County, Wall, Newell, Cheyenne Eagle Butte, Hill City, Red Cloud, Faith, New Underwood, Spearfish, Hot Springs, Rapid City Central and Lead-Deadwood. Other participating Wyoming schools were Sundance, Moorcroft, Upton, Wright and Hulett.

The Scotties' boys' team took fourth place with 58 points, behind Belle Fourche - 95, Wall - 84, and Lead-Deadwood - 63.
