Patricia Lynn Bowman, 63, of Rapid City, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Patricia was born November 21, 1950, in Kadoka, S.D., the daughter of Glenn and Loy (Lytle) Hamm. Her family lived in the Interior, S.D. area until she was 10 years old and then moved from the area. She attended high school in Rapid City and Holsteen, Iowa.
Pat and Bill Cheney were united in marriage on December 28, 1968, and from this union two children were born, Bart Cheney and Brooke Kelly. During the years she was raising her family, she was a homemaker and a loving mother.
On October 25, 1994, Mike Bowman and Pat were united in marriage. Together they owned and operated Bowman Tire Service, M&B Enterprises and Sheridan Lake Shepards. They shared a beautiful home together in the Black Hills. They valued simple things in life as long as they were together such as a beautiful summer evening and their special dogs.
Pat’s favorite roll in life was being a grandmother to her three grandchildren, Brycen and Riggens Cheney and Paiton Kelly. She supported them in all their activities and loved them with a quiet heart and a fierce devotion.
She is loved and survived by her husband, Micheal Bowman; son, Bart Cheney and his wife Tommi of Wall; daughter, Brooke Kelly and her husband Jason of Palmer, Alaska; three grandchildren, Paiton Kelly and Brycen and Riggens Cheney; her mother, Loy Hamm of Wall; brother, Bill (Kathy) Hamm; sister, Jo (Bart) Otto; brother-in-law, Cliff and his wife Val Bowman; sister-in-law, Kathy (Kevin) Teasley; special friend, Jason Bertilatto, his wife Connie and son Cole; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and a host of other friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Glenn Hamm.
A visitation will be offered from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Serenity Springs Funeral Chapel in Rapid City.
A Celebration of Patricia’s Life funeral service was held Tuesday, November 26, at Open Bible Christian Center, with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating. Interment followed at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City.
A memorial has been established to cancer research.
