Norman H. Sebade_________________________________________________

1919 - 2014

Norman Henry Sebade, 95, of Tacoma, Wa., passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014.
Norman was born in Wall, S.D. In 1938, he married his high school sweetheart, Doris Crown. They were devoted to each other and their family.
Norman was a decorated Navy veteran of WWII. For most of his career he was superintendent for a large local construction company that built thousands of homes and apartments throughout the region. He also enjoyed passing on his vast knowledge by teaching carpentry for many years at Tacoma Vocation School.
He was a self-made man coming from the depression era and a true example that hard work and perseverance can lead to the fulfillment of the American dream.
Throughout their 71 years together, Norman and Doris enjoyed Tahoma Dance Club and Pinochle Club. Norman was an avid golfer and enjoyed teaching his grandson, Bret, the game. Norman and Doris were members of Bethany Methodist Church.
The passing of our father and grandfather creates a void in our hearts. He was the rock of our family, our shining example of how to lead our lives and care for others. He was always happy, always smiling and ready to lend a helping hand. In our hearts he was perfect and we will strive to carry on his legacy of love and devotion.
Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, of 71 years.
With his passing, cherished memories are left to his beloved daughters, Margaret Long (Charles Reed) of South Hill, Wa., and Susan Grady (Kim Mowers) of Rowayton, Conn.; grandchildren, Lori Pelland (Steve) of Puyallup, Wa., Lana Rocke (Kris) of Tacoma, Bret Grady (Grace) of Fairfield, Conn., Brooke Lahey (Matthew) of Southport, Conn.; six great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; his sisters, Edith Paulsen and Bernice Anderson (Frank), both of Wall; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family wishes to thank Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care for their personal gifts of love and guidance.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial gifts be sent to Franciscan Hospice, PO Box 1502, Tacoma, WA 98401.
