Mike Stoeser, 55, of Hayes, died Thursday, September 30, 2010, as a result of a four-wheeler accident.
Services were held Tuesday, October 5, at St. John's Catholic Church in Ft. Pierre.
Burial was in the Scotty Philip Cemetery, also in Ft. Pierre.
Mike Stoeser was born on April 17, 1955, at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre to Alex and Irene(Patton) Stoeser. He grew up on the family farm four miles north of Hayes and attended grade school in Hayes. He attended Stanley County High School and graduated in 1975.
He worked and lived on the family farm his whole life. Mike was always in for a good game of pinochle, he took pride in checking the cattle and loved wildlife and being on the farm. He had a passion for keeping his lawn freshly mowed as well as keeping his neighbors up to date on the latest news; which could include frequent phone conversations. He also liked to attend farm auctions and would often buy something whether he needed it or not.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, which he served as the Grand Knight and the Hayes Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his brother, Jim of Ft. Pierre; his step-mother, Lucille Stoeser of Pierre, a nephew, AJ (Amanda) Stoeser and great nephew, Aidan, of Hayes; niecesn Brenda (Gary) Moore of Sioux Falls, Kayleen Stoeser of Ft. Pierre and Whitney Stoeser of Sioux Falls. He is also survived by his step-brother Jerry (Sue) Johnson of St. Louis, MO.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alex, and his mother, Irene, a sister, Linda, and an infant brother. He was also preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and Mark Manning, who he considered a brother.
