Michael F. "Mick" Muck
Michael F. "Mick" Muck, 68, Spearfish, died Thursday, November 18, 2010, at Mid Dakota Hospital in Chamberlain.
Mick was born January 18, 1942, in Sioux Falls to Merle and Mila (Wendt) Muck. He moved to Geddes as a young boy and graduated from Geddes High School.
Mick joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country honorably. Following his discharge he returned to Geddes where he married Shirley Rada on Febuary 8, 1964.
Mick joined the South Dakota Department of Game Fish and Parks as a conservation officer. He was stationed at Chamberlain, Woonsocket and Philip for 19 years. The family moved to Spearfish in 1989 and Mick retired in 1997 after 33 years of service.
He started a habitat consulting business and commercial spraying business. Mick loved to hunt and enjoyed trips to Arizona, Kansas, Idaho, Canada and many other places to pursue game.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Muck, Spearfish; a son, Dave, and his wife, Kelli Muck, and their children, Paige and Porter, Rapid City; a daughter, Nancy, and her husband, Jim Lei, and their children, Carter and Collin, Chandler, Ariz.; and one brother, Gary, and his wife, Eddy Michaels, and niece and nephew, Shannon and Greg, Los Angeles.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services were held Monday, November 22, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid City with Pastor Dwight Stensgaard officiating. Burial was at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with military honors by the Sturgis Veteran's Honor Guard.
A memorial has been established.
