Melvin Lambert, age 82 of Centerville, SD, formerly of Wall, died Monday, October 26, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Center in Centerville.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, at the United Methodist Church in Wall, with Pastor Sheri Fadley officiating.
Music will be provided by Carol Hahn, pianist, and Lucille Holsether, vocalist. Ushers are Jerry Johannesen and Bill Leonard. Pallbearers are Adam, Luke, Tim and Todd Lambert, Clint and Lenny Lester.
Interment will be held at a later date at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Plainview, NE.
Melvin Lambert was born July 16, 1927, in Plainview, NE, the son of William and Dora (Sebade) Lambert. Mel grew up in the Plainview area, prior to his family moving to the Wall area where Mel spent most of his life.
Melvin was united in marriage to Georgia Kitterman and to this union were born three children.
Mel worked in the construction business and later became everyone's favorite handyman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In February 2008, Melvin moved into the Good Samaritan Center in Centerville, SD, where he has since resided.
Survivors include his son, Kelly Lambert and his wife, Suzie, of Rapid City; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia; his son, Richard; and his daughter, Debbie Lester.
A memorial has been established.
Arrangements are with the Rush Funeral Chapel of Wall.
