Marjorie Pellerzi, 86, of Pierre, died Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Golden Living in Pierre.
Marjorie was born on March 9, 1925, to Harry and Maude (Waddell) Newby. She grew up on her parents' ranch located seven miles northwest of Four Corners. She went to high school in Pierre. On October 9, 1944, she married Francis John Pellerzi in Cumberland, Md. They moved to Pierre in 1945 where they made their home and raised three children.
Marjorie retired after 30 plus years of service from the S.D. Game Fish and Parks department. She loved to dance, work in her flower gardens, and the many stray dogs and cats her children brought home over the years.
She is survived by her two sons, Mike Pellerzi, Canning, and Brian Pellerzi, Minneapolis, Minn.; one daughter, Susan (Randy) King, Canning; six grandchildren, Selisia (Mike) Hunsaker, Ridgecrest, Calif., Colby (Brooke) Hansen, Windsor, Colo., Garrett Pellerzi, Camp LeJuan, N.C., Kitty (Duane) Craft, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Nicki (Aaron) Hamilton, Greeley, Colo., and Josh (Emily) King, Greeley, Colo.; and 10 great-grandchildren, Emily, Dawson, Aliena, Kyrie, Brenner, Bracken, Colby, Brielle, Jolaie and Jurraie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny; her parents; a daughter, Tamela; three sisters, Vivian Bork, Lois Lunn and Ruth Eich; and a brother, Paul Newby.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. (CT) Thursday, August 18, at First United Methodist Church in Pierre. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
