Marcus J. Peterson
Marcus Joseph Peterson, age 29 of Sioux Falls, S.D., passed away at home from an apparent heart attack on September 24, 2012.
Marcus was born on December 18, 1982, to Michael and Julie (Forster) Peterson in Philip. He attended Grandview Elementary School in Rapid City. In 2001, Marcus graduated from Sturgis Brown High School. In 2004, he moved to Sioux Falls and enrolled at Southeast Technical Institute. He graduated in 2006 from the Network Administrator Program.
On June 18, 2005, Marcus married the love of his life, Katie Scott, in Jefferson. He deeply loved his family and was blessed with two beautiful daughters.
Marcus was employed with Lodgenet of Sioux Falls and held the position of lead supervisor. He was a huge sports fan and was a member of the Sports Car Club of Siouxland. He had a true passion for working on cars, autocross racing and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Marcus was a very loving and giving person. He elected to be an organ donor and continued to give even after his passing.
Marcus is survived by his wife of seven years, Katie; daughters, Connelly “Nelly” and Cayenne; his mother, Julie Forster (Dan Raap) of Hartford; father, Michael Peterson (KJ) of Rapid City; mother-in-law, Connie Scott of Jefferson; step-sister, Erica Raap; stepbrother, Spencer Raap; and paternal grandmother, Marilyn (Warren) Bergheim.
Marcus was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harlan and Linda Forster; paternal grandfather, Maurice (Pete) Peterson; and his uncle, Bruce Forster.
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday, September 29, 2012, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Sioux Falls.
