Lady Scotties try to slow Newell Irrigators

The District 14B Philip Scotties girls' basketball team hosted the District 16B Newell Lady Irrigators, Saturday, January 29.

Philip sank the first field goal. Newell answered back with two points of their own. Philip did not score during its possession, though after the turnover, Newell did. The scoreboard stayed heavy on the Irrigator side for the rest of the game.

The junior varsity game also did not fall to the Scotties. Philip started slowly in the first quarter, though held close to their opponents for the rest of the game.

Philip sank seven field goals and had a free throw percentage of 17 (2 of 12).

The next game for the Lady Scotties was Tuesday, February 1, in Philip against the Faith Lady Longhorns. Philip will travel to Presho to challenge the Lyman Raiders, Thursday, February 3, starting at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Scotties will be in New Underwood Saturday, February 5, to challenge the Tigers, starting at 2:00 p.m. Next they will be in Murdo, Tuesday, February 8, to go against the Jones County Coyotes, starting at 5:30 p.m. The girls' West River Basketball Tournament will be Thursday, February 10.
