Lady Scotties take second place at Hot Springs West River Tournament

The Philip Lady Scotties competed at the West River Invitational Basketball Tourn-ament hosted by Hot Springs on Thursday and Friday, February 7th and 8th.

In Philip's first game, the Class "B" Scotties came from behind to squeak by the Class "B" Wall Eagles with a 51-49 win.

In the semifinal game, Philip eased into a win over the Class "A" Hot Springs Bison. Leading by only one basket at the end of the first quarter, the Scotties bounded ahead and held the Bison to only one basket in the second quarter. They let Hot Springs get only four points in the third quarter. The final score was 42-22.

Philip went against the Class "A" Newell Irrigators for the tournament championship. Though leading in the first quarter, the Scotties were one point behind at half time. In the second half, Newell slowly pulled away to win the game 26-35.
