Lady Scotties hold on to second in grueling Philip Volleyball Tournament

The Scotties hosted the Saturday, September 11, Philip Volleyball Tournament.

Other teams included were Harding County, Jones County, Colome, Hot Springs, Bennett County, Belle Fourche, Lead/Deadwood, Kadoka and Douglas. Starting at 9:00 a.m. and not ending until after 9:00 p.m., the tournament of endurance culminated in semi-final games and the fight for the championship.

The earlier competitions saw the teams in Pool A wearing each other down in the best of three matches. Philip over Douglas 2-0, Lead/Deadwood over Kadoka 2-1, Belle Fourche over Lead/Deadwood 2-0, Kadoka over Douglas 2-1, Philip over Kadoka 2-0, Belle Fourche over Douglas 2-0, Douglas over Lead/Deadwood 2-1, Belle Fourche over Kadoka 2-1, and Philip over Lead/Deadwood 2-0.

Pool B: Jones County over Bennett County 2-0, Hot Springs over Colome 2-0, Colome over Harding County 2-1, Hot Springs over Bennett County 2-0, Jones County over Hot Springs 2-1, Harding County over Bennett County 2-0, Colome over Bennett County 2-0, Jones County over Harding County 2-0, Hot Springs over Harding County 2-0, and Colome over Jones County 2-0.

In the semi-finals, Philip defeated Colome 2-1 and Belle Fourched defeated Hot Springs 2-1. Colome took third place with a 2-0 win over Hot Springs. Philip, undefeated during the earlier play, fell to Belle Fourche 0-2.
