Wall 8 13 11 18 = 50

The Thursday, December 10, match in Philip began with a basket-for-basket leap frog until the last two minutes of the first quarter. Philip then took a 11-6 lead. The Scotties ended the first quarter still holding onto a five point lead with a 13-8 score.

At the 4:41 mark of the second quarter, the Scotties allowed the Eagles to re-take the initiative 15-16, only to take it back 18-17 at the 1:52 mark. Less than half a minute later, Philip again fell behind and ended the half 18-21.

The Lady Scotties made the third quarter their highest scoring one of the evening. The clock read 6:11 when Philip got ahead on the scoreboard, Philip then launched into a scoring spree that never let the Eagles fully recover. The quarter ended 42-32. The final quarter saw some gaining by Wall, even to the point of being within three points. The Scotties held on though, and played the clock to win the game 53-50.

"I am very happy with our complete team play," said Philip coach Mike Albrecht. "When the school graduates three starters, you sometimes wonder who can step up. We have six players who stepped up. Everyone on the team showed their spirit and teamwork."

"Wall is one of the top teams in this half of the state. To knock them off was a great way to start the year," said Albrecht. "Now, we're looking for a little revenge on Fort Pierre, after them having beaten us for the last four years in a row."
