Lady Scotties back from State B Basketball
On Sunday, March 15, the Philip Lady Scotties were honored as heroes in their return from their first ever State B Girls' Basketball Tournament.
Philip, with a before-state season record of 21-4, had earned 43.00 seeding points to rank it sixth at state. Other teams at state will be #1 seeded Avon (21-2 record, 48.00 points), #2 - Harding County (23-2, 47.89), #3 - Summit (21-2, 47.50), #4 - Sully Buttes (21-2, 47.00), #5 - Elkton/Lake Benton (20-3, 46.00), #7 - Colman-Egan (16-6, 36.32) and #8 - Freeman (16-8, 30.53).
All Philip team members saw play time during the tournament.
Philip lost to Summit 45-66 in the first round. Harding County, the only other West River team, also lost to Summit. Summit went on to win first place at the tournament.

Philip's second game was against Colman-Egan in a consolation game March 13. The Scotties lost 45-62.

For its third game of the tournament, Philip played Freeman. In an extremely tight game, the Lady Scotties continually fought for and continually re-took the lead. The game could not be decided until the last minutes. Philip lost by only four points, 49-53.

Philip's Marissa Mann was chosen as one of the twelve tournament players to be on the All Tournament Team.
The team enjoyed a heroes' welcome in a celebration at the Philip High School gymnasium on Sunday, March 15. A large crowd listened to the coaches and many of the players concerning the season, team spirit and insights.
