Kenneth M. Eide was born on July 24, 1912, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Knutson) Eide, on the family homestead where he resided his entire life. He attended the Deadman Rural School and as a young man enjoyed farming and ranching in the Grindstone area.

Kenneth was united in marriage to Mary Smith on November 3, 1951, in Philip, SD. After their marriage they continued to reside on the family homestead, where he enjoyed raising Hereford cattle and farming. Kenneth was an excellent mechanic and welder, doing his own repairs and helping many neighbors over the years. He took a special interest in young people and through the years several came and lived with them. He helped them to become responsible adults.

Kenneth's hobbies were listening to country music, dancing and following his son's band where-ever they entertained.

He loved the time he got to spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His sugar sandwiches and bear hunts will be greatly missed.

Church was very important to Kenneth. He was baptized by Rev. Tell in the Presbyterian Church in Philip, and was later confirmed into the First Lutheran Church by Rev. Bly. During his membership, he held many offices.

Grateful for having shared his life include his wife, Mary, of Philip; one son, Marvin Eide and his wife, Vicki, of Philip; two granddaughters, Carla Sieler and her husband, Jason, of Gillette, WY, and Christa Fitch and her husband, Trevor, of Milesville; six great-grandchildren, Kiley and Taegan Sieler, and Brayden, Keagan, Colby and Jensen Fitch; and a host of other relatives and friends, including Jim Nickelson, who lived with them for several years.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Eide; and two sisters, Marion Oldenberg and Alice Larsen.

A memorial has been established.
