Kayla Marie Houska
Kayla Marie Houska of Moscow, Idaho, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Gritman Medical Center. She had just celebrated her 29th birthday.
Kayla was born March 14, 1983, in Moscow to Ken and Mitzi (Erdmann) Houska. She grew up and attended Moscow schools where she was active in basketball, volleyball and track. Kayla still holds the record at Lena Whitmore Elementary in the 400 meter dash. She graduated from Moscow Senior High School in 2001.
Kayla lived in the Seattle, Wash., area for a time, returning to Moscow to attend the University of Idaho. Kayla was an accomplished writer and due to graduate in August. She had hopes of writing a children's book and having her brother, Justin, illustrate it. She will be remembered for always being available to help others and for her good heart!
Kayla was preceded in death by her dad, Kenny; her paternal grandparents, Ivan and Blanche Houska, of Pukwana, S.D.; and maternal grandfather, Oliver Erdmann, of Philip, S.D.
She is survived by her mother, Mitzi Houska, Moscow; her brother, Justin, Ventura, Calif.; her nephew, Jensen; and her grandmother, Etta Erdmann in Philip, S.D.
Kayla also leaves numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and host of friends.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Short's Funeral Chapel in Moscow.
Remembrances for Kayla are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
