Joseph J. McNeese

Joseph James McNeese, 54, Belle Fourche, died Saturday, September 3, 2005, at his home in Belle fourche following a battle with cancer. his wife and children were at his side.

Joe was born May 15, 1951, in Fargo, ND, to Thomas James McNeese and Angela (Cossette) McNeese. Joe grew up mostly in Fargo, graduating from Fargo Shanlee, and he attended NDSU. Working in the construction industry, he married Lori Hess in Lemmon, SD. His work with Tri-State Construction brought them to Belle Fourche. Two sons, Brandon and Quillen were born to this union. Joe worked at Frost and Sons Funeral Home for ten years before returning to the building industry. Joe married Beverly Stalley formerly of Midland, Nov. 3, 1997, sharing their lives until his death.

Joe was a member of Elks Lodge in Fargo. He was a past president of the Belle Fourche country Club Board, past president of the Belle Fourche Jaycees and was a committee member of the Tri-State Chapter of Ducks Unlimited.

Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the family's cottage at Strawberry Lake in Minnesota. He enjoyed gardeining and woodworking. He was an accomplished golfer and passed his love and talent for the game to his sons. He won many honors in golfing, including the two time low gross club champion, before an injury kept him from the game.

He will always be missed by his wife Beverly, sons Brandon and Quillen McNeese, Dodi (Lance) Mitchell, all of Belle Fourche; step-children Tejay (Tonia) Fischer, Rapid City; Will (Chele) Fischer, Stickney; Jackie (Jeff) Rheborg, Pierre, Dea Fischer (Craig Anderson), Midland; his father, Thomas J. (Tony) McNeese, Fargo, ND; brothers, Timothy (Cathy) McNeese, Baltimore, MD; Kelly (Anna Marie) McNeese, Tommy and Angela, Mesa, AZ; and Chuck (Roz) McNeese, Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Angie, and his grandparents. Joe enjoyed the time he spent helping build the new hospital and bank in Philip, SD.
