Jon Paul "J.P." Stovall
On July 7, 2008, a private family service was held for J.P. Stovall in Panama City, FL. J.P. passed away on July 6, 2008, after a six month battle with cancer.
J.P. was born on July 26, 1945, in Lamesa, TX, to Austin and Ola (Smooth) Stovall.
When he was a year old, he came from Texas with his parents and two brothers to Faith, SD, to relocate on a ranch with plenty of grass and then shipped the cattle by rail.
J.P.'s father, Austin, and his uncle, John, purchased and owned an interest, along with Rich Miller, on a place owned by V.D. Tidball.
They later purchased the Faith Saddle Shop where they experienced the "Great Blizzard of '48."
After grade school in Faith, the family moved to Philip where J.P. attended high school.
He was married to Nancy Lee Hajek on June 4, 1966, in Philip.
Along with his many business ventures, he became very supportive of Nancy's career with Boeing Aerospace Engineering Department.
They have lived in Huntsville, AL, for several years where Nancy has advanced to a Director of Operations position.
J.P. is survived by his wife, Nancy; a son, Christopher of Knoxville; a daughter, Shilo (Jamie) Nelson of Panama City Beach, FL; along with grandchildren, Taylor Nelson, Leah Nelson and Austin Stovall; one brother, Bill and his family of nephews and nieces; a special uncle, John and Darlene Stovall of Hermosa, SD; and his mother-in-law, Phyllis Hajek of Philip, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Ola Stovall; one brother, Jerry Bob; and an infant sister.
