Janet Kittinger, age 65, of 345 Dakota Ave S., Huron, died Thursday, December 22, 2005 at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30, at the American Lutheran Church in Huron with Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Inurnment will be at the East Lake Andes Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kuhler Funeral Home.
Janet Lappe was born on June 19, 1940 in Pierre, SD, to John and Thelma (Crain) Lappe. She attended school in Pierre and Huron.
She married John Cochran and they lived in Rapid City.
Janet later married Robert Lyftogt and they lived around the world on numerous military bases. In the early 1980s, she married Floyd Kittinger. They moved to Aurora, CO, and then Glendale, AZ. Following Floyd’s death Janet returned to Huron. She enjoyed watching sporting events, especially the Denver Broncos.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Roger Lyftogt; and all three husbands.
Survivors include two sons, Lyle Cochran of Wilber, NE, and Robby Lyftogt of Aurora, CO; one daughter, Gloria Gilbert of San Antonio, TX; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; four brothers, Don (Terri) Lappe of Wahpeton, ND, Ted (Joyce) Lappe of Edson, Alberta, Canada, Keith (Peggy) Lappe of Great Falls, MT, and Larry Lappe of Chester, MT; one twin sister, Jeanette (Richard) Burnett of Philip, SD; several nieces and nephews; two uncles, Alvin (Joan) Lappe of Harrold, SD, and Harlin Lappe of Pierre, SD; and one aunt, Donna Lappe of Harrold, SD.
