James R. Pearson
James R. Pearson, 87 of Spearfish died Monday, January 16, 2012, at the Belle Fourche Healthcare.
James was born March 16, 1924, in Philip, S.D., to Axel and Lenne (Miles) Pearson. He was raised in Philip and after the eighth grade he started working on the family ranch.
James married Lola Miller on March 9, 1965, in Rapid City. He worked various jobs throughout his life including construction, railroad and at the State Veterans Home in Hot Springs, he retired from the State Veterans Home after 13 years of service. James and Lola made their home in Spearfish since 1995.
Grateful to have shared in James’ life are two sons, Harry Pearson of Lead, and Jay Pearson of Spearfish; a daughter, Vivian Krus of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a sister, Florence Glasgow of Wall; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Emil Magnuson of Rapid City; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Pearson of Spearfish.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and four brothers, Roy Miles, Palmer, Pere and Francis Pearson; and two sisters, Selma Darmer and Rita Magnuson.
Memorial services were held January 25, 2012, at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish with Pastor Alan Loken officiating.
Inurnment will take place at the Rose Garden in Spearfish in the spring.
