James Jerome "Spike" Erdmann

Funeral services for James Jerome (Spike) Erdmann were held Monday, February 1, 2010, at the Mead Baptist Church with the Rev. Kerry Groce officiating.

James Jerome (Spike) Erdmann age 85 was born November 15, 1924, in Webster, SD, to Paul & Ida Erdmann. He passed from this life on January 28, 2010, at his home in Mead, OK.

He graduated from high school in Philip, SD, in 1943 and joined the navy the same year. He spent 20 years in the navy and retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1962. He married Juanita (Sally) Erdmann January 12, 1963, in San Jose, CA, and moved to Mead that same year.

He worked as a mechanic most of his life, on aircraft, boats and cars.

He enjoyed traveling, camping, raising and riding horses, deer hunting with his friend and family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Spike is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ida Erdmann; sisters, Maggie McDonald, Claremore, OK, and Catherine Houghton; brother, Oliver Erdmann, Philip, SD; and an infant grandson, Chad Berry Sanford, Mead, OK.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Juanita (Sally) Erdmann; a brother DeWayne Erdmann and his wife, Mildred, Claremore, OK; a sister, Mary Powers and her husband, Bob, San Bernardino, CA; daughters, Claudette Sanford and her husband, Walt, Connie Trent and her husband, Wayne, and Donna Evans, all of Mead, OK; grandchildren, Tabatha Sexton and her husband, Brent, Tiffany Paris andJim Blakley, Tessa Trent and Mike Covington, Chad Sanford and his wife, Jaime, Brandon and Brooke Sanford, Steve Pierce, and Constance Slane; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Katie Trent, Karissa Smith, Kayne Paris, Veruca Svendsen, Trent Sexton, Daniel Hernandes and Kevin Slane; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
