Hunter Safety Course in Philip
There will be a Hunter Safety Course held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on May 5th at the Philip Fire Hall.
The course is free, sponsored by the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks. A person must be 12-years-old or turn 12 prior to the end of this year in order to attend this course. Successful completion of a Hunter Safely Course is required by law of every person under the age of 16 who wishes to hunt in South Dakota.
The course will be provided only twice in Haakon County this year - this spring in Philip and again this fall in Midland. The course teaches the safe handling of firearms, proper hunting ethics and introduction into wildlife management and hunting laws.
Interested students need to pick up a parent permission form from the Philip City Police Department and have it signed by a parent prior to attending the course.
Branch 85 of National Mutual Benefit will sponsor a free lunch for the students. For more information, contact Kit Graham at 859-2850 or 859-2325.
