Eunice Johnson

Eunice Johnson, age 86, of Wall, SD, died June 1, 2009, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Eunice M. Sebade was born March 30, 1923, in Wall, SD, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Mooney) Sebade. She grew up in Wall, starting the first grade in the new Wall School, the same building her children and grandchildren received their education, graduating from Wall High School in 1941.

After graduation she moved to Tacoma, WA, with her brothers, Norman and Delbert and their spouses, where she worked at the Wolworth's Store. After one year she moved to Richmond, CA, to be closer to her boyfriend, Howard, who was serving in the United States Army.

Eunice was united in marriage to Howard Johnson on September 3, 1943, in San Pablo, CA. After their marriage, Eunice returned to Wall while Howard received orders to be shipped overseas. After Howard's honorable discharge, Howard, Eunice, and their son, Bob, returned to California where Howard worked for Standard Oil Company.

In 1946, the family returned to Wall where Howard worked as a clerk for the Wall Post Office, and Eunice raised their three children. While in Wall, Eunice also worked at the Wall Lanes for a number of years.

Eunice's husband, Howard, preceded her in death on June 11, 1992. Eunice continued to live in Wall and in January of 2002, moved into the Prairie Village apartments in Wall where she has since resided.

Eunice was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the St. Patrick's Altar Society, and the PTA, all of Wall.

Survivors include two sons, Bob Johnson and his wife, Vonna, of Rapid City, and Gail Johnson and his wife, Wanda, of Wall; a daughter, Marilyn Wolf and her husband, Les, of Pierre; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Delbert Sebade and his wife, Armista, of Wall, Norman Sebade and his wife, Doris, of Tacoma, WA, and Dayton Sebade and his wife, Leah, of Loveland, CO; two sisters, Edith Paulsen and Bernice Anderson, both of Wall; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Howard, Eunice was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services are pending with Rush Funeral Chapel of Wall.
