Elmer Briggs, 74 of Midland died Monday, September 20, 2004, at St. Mary’s TCU.
Services were held Friday, September 24, at Isburg Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dallas McKinley officiating. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery.
Elmer Briggs was born on December 20, 1929, in Aberdeen, SD, to Fred and Mabel (Beckwith) Briggs. He grew up and attended school at Robbs Flat and graduated from Pierre High School.
Elmer was united in marriage with Marjorie Pickles on May 31, 1954, in Philip, SD.
He was a 4-H leader for three years, on the Robbs Flat School Board, little league baseball coach and women’s softball coach. Elmer was interested in history and archeology.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Midland; two sons, Edward Briggs and Lynn Briggs, both of Midland; two daughters, Janet Briggs of Spearfish and Jacqueline and her husband, Mark Ritter, of Dayton, MN; two brothers, Fred Briggs and his wife, Veda of Malibu, CA, and Earl Briggs of Rapid City; three sisters, Ruby Morgan of Silverton, OR, Velma and her husband, Sherman Bishop of Portland, OR, and Ruth Neuhauser of Midland; and four grandchildren, Stephanie and Rochelle Ritter and Casey and Shane Briggs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roy and William.
