Edna M. Buswell
Edna M. Buswell, age 96, of Philip, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Services will be held at a later date in Aberdeen. Rush Funeral Home of Philip is in charge of arrangements.
Edna May Sherwood was born July 5, 1908, at Midland, SD, the daughter of Mervin and Fleta May (Weeks) Sherwood. She moved with her family to Philip in January 1918. She grew up and received her education in Philip, graduating from Philip High School in 1926.
Edna was united in marriage to Hubert Lee Buswell October 12, 1926, and to this union were born two children, Gordon Lee and Linda May. She and her family lived in Mitchell from 1928 until 1937 when they moved to Aberdeen.
Her husband, Hubert, preceded her in death in 1959.
In 1965, Edna moved to Philip, where she has since resided.
Edna was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Philip.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda May Sommerfield and her husband, Charles, of New Haven, CT; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Audrey Buswell, of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Ruth Fairchild of Philip; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Hubert, Edna was preceded in death by a son, Gordon Buswell; her parents; and two brothers, Charles and John Sherwood.
