Downtown Philip to host Christmas tree displays
A display of Christmas trees and wreaths decorated by organizations, groups and indiviudals will be spread out around Philip's downtown this Christmas season.
The annual Parade of Trees at the Haakon County Courthouse had to be put on hold for this Christmas season due to ongoing plumbing renonvations. The loss of the Parade of Trees sparked a group of citizens to organize a downtown display, for this season only.
The trees will be put up in the Senechal Lobby, State Farm Insurance, NAPA, Farm Bureau Insurance, Jones Saddlery, Bottle & Vet, K-gee's building, First National Bank in Philip, First National Insurance Agency, Embroidery & More, Haakon County Abstract/ American Family Insurance, Ravellette Publications, Inc. and the Bad River Senior Citizen's Center.
Space is limited for large trees so event organizer's are asking for trees four feet tall and under be used for display in the windows and the Senechal Lobby. They stated that this would also add a new challenge and dimension to the seasonal display. Wreaths are also welcome.
Anyone interested in displaying a tree or wreath can contact Brittney Drury or Nancy Haigh at Ravellette Publications, 859-2516, to reserve a space.
Trees can be put up after Thanksgiving and need to be removed by January 3.
