Doris Burns, 80, of Vivian, S.D., died Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at the Golden Living Center Prairie Hills in Rapid City.
Services were held Monday, August 30, at the Vivian Lutheran Church.
Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery in Philip.
Doris was born on April 16, 1930, in Philip to Artie May and Soren Sorensen. She lived in Philip and graduated from Philip High School in 1948. She received her teaching certificate from Black Hills Teachers College and taught in the Philip area.
In 1949, Doris married Robert Burns and they moved to Vivian in 1950 where they raised three children.
She is survived by her three children, Jim (Carol) Burns of Black Hawk, Deb (Dave) Wendt of Sultan, Wash., and Cindy (Paul) Trudeau of Kihei, Hawaii; one sister, Tish (Delbert) Gustafson of Faith; three grandchildren, Ressie and Robert Trudeau and Chelsea Wendt; two step-grandchildren, Dean and Carl Relf; and five step-great-grandchildren, Leslie, Tyler, Machalla, Zach, Dean, Jr. and Mariah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; two brothers, Eldon Wadell and Morris Sorensen; one sister, Eleanor Edwards; and step-grandson, Zack Relf.
