Darrell D. Johnson
Darrell Dean Johnson, 69, Rapid City, died Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 1, from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to the services at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.
Services will be Friday, September 3, at 10:00 a.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Moe Greiner officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sturgis Veteran's Honor Guard.
Darrell was born at Philip, SD, on May 13, 1935, to George Elmer and Myrtle Marie (Radway) Johnson. He lived in Philip and later in Sioux Falls. He served two years in the U.S. Army and was married to Irene Hespe at Pierre, SD, on May 23, 1958. He lived throughout South Dakota and the past three years in Sioux Falls, SD. He later married Joanna Bachmeier at Sioux Falls, SD, on May 12, 1996. The past three years he and Joanna lived in Rapid City, SD
He attended Black Hawk Lutheran Church
Survivors include his wife, Joanna of Rapid City; two sons, Darwin "D.J." Johnson of Memphis, TN, and Duane Johnson, Frenchtown, MT; two daughters, Denise Johnson of Dufur, OR, and Denae Jones of Frenchtown, MT; one brother, M. C. Johnson of Phillip, SD; and one sister, Shirley Bules of Phillip, SD. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, eight stepchildren, 22 step-grandchildren and 19 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
