County commissioners meet to discuss budget

Waterline easement and budget were discussed at the Friday, July 15, Haakon County Commission meeting.

Jake Fitzgerald, West River/ Lyman-Jones Rural Water manager, updated the commission on the easement situtation on the city of Philip's southwest border. He said the survey had been completed and discussed those results with the board.

Haakon County State's Attorney Gay Tollefson also discussed the issue in regards to the right-of-way and fence issues.

The board reviewed budget sheets compiled by Haakon County Auditor Patricia Freeman. Freeman said the board needed to decide if there would be pay raises for 2012. The sheets she compiled did not reflect any increase in salary, she said. The director of equalization and register of deeds offices each submitted budgets that included a part-time deputy.

Freeman said most of the funds were submitted at last year's amounts. The board did make some adjustments in the submitted amounts.

The commission will continue with the budget at their next meeting, Tuesday, August 2.

The board entered into executive session for just over 40 minutes to discuss personnel. Following the executive session, the board approved to pay Mark Foley for vacation time that he had accrued.
