Commissioners have quiet meeting on Tuesday morning
No major issues were before the Haakon County Board of Commissioners at their regular meeting Tuesday, October 5.
Kenny Neville, Highway Superintendent, reviewed events in his department. The board gave approval to Neville to purchase the 1997 Chevy pickup they had on trial from Federal Surplus in Box Elder.
He noted all FEMA work, except one area, is done. The last area involves downed trees that are in a wet location. After the mud f
reezes, the trees will be removed.
Neville noted he had purchased several cutting blades before the expected price increase occurs.
The commissioners discussed an agreement with the state’s Wildland Fire Coordinator. This allows our emergency manager to call them in to aid in coordinating fire suppression.
The board approved Marty Hansen, County Emergency Manager, to be the liason person who can contact the state Wildland Fire Coordinator in the event of a catastrophic range fire.
A Game, Fish and Parks proposal was reviewed by the board. Commissioner Don Eymer suggested the board review the proposal further before giving the department any feedback on the proposal.
