Commissioners end 2006

A year-end meeting to wrap up 2006 paperwork was held by the Haakon County Board of Commissioners on December 27.

The minutes of the regular December commissioner's meeting were approved. Recently submitted claims were approved for payment.

Automatic supplements and contingency transfers were approved for departments which had gone over their budgets. This included the sheriff's office, courthouse maintenance, coroner, supplement of the poor, auditor's office, and the library.

Auditor Shirley Dennis updated the commissioners on the tree trimming, water line and sewer line inspection, and structural inspection. She said Johnson Tree Trimming of Rapid City will be in Philip on January 9, 2007, to start trimming back the trees around the courthouse. She noted that some of the trees may have to be totally removed.

Dennis also noted a company will be here Wednesday, January 10, 2007, to look at the courthouse's plumbing. The individual contacted concerning the structural condition of the courthouse has not yet set a day to inspect the courthouse.

Two raffles were approved; one for the Jennifer Nelson fundraiser, and the other for the Midland Volunteer Fire Department.

Approval was given for Kevin Graber to be gone December 26 and for Sheryl Hansen to chaperone the Junior Leaders on December 28 to Rapid City.

The next meeting for the Haakon County Board of Commissioners is set for 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2007.
