Citizens of the Month

Dan and Gayla Piroutek were nominated as May's Citizens of the Month by Bill and Connie Parsons.

Dan is a native of the Milesville community and is a farmer, rancher and auctioneer. Gayla was raised in Artesian, SD, and moved to the Milesville area as a teacher. While teaching in the area, she met and married Dan. To this union two daughters were born, Erin and Amy.

Dan and Gayla are very active in the Milesville community. They are members of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Gayla taught at the Alfalfa Valley School for two years and the King School for one year prior to becoming the Milesville Postmaster, a position she has held for the last 27 years. She has been and continues to be active in the local 4-H program as a 4-H judge and past leader. Gayla has also directed the well-known Milesville plays, helps with maintaining the hall and park area, paints Milesville signs for upkeep, assists with community events, and last, but not least, you will always see her assisting at Dan's auctions. They travel around the state to host auctions for livestock, machinery, household, etc.

Dan and Gayla have been nominated for their commitment to the Milesville community as they go above and beyond the call of duty. As Connie said it, "They are good people with good attitudes." Thanks, Dan and Gayla for helping keep Milesville a strong community!
