Cameron W. Carlson

December 21, 1992 - March 5, 2012

Cameron Wayne Carlson, 19, of Belle Fourche, S.D., went to heaven on March 5, 2012, outside Belle Fourche in a tragic car accident.
He was born December 21, 1992, in Spearfish to Kevin and Dara Carlson.
His life was too short for everyone who loved him, but those who were touched by his love of life and the quality of his existance far exceeds the quantity of his time here. Cameron loved life and was loved by many people.
He loved sports and was very good at them and strived for excellence, he was a great motivator to his friends, he accepted everyone that he met no matter what walk of life. Cameron touched so many hearts and inspired many more and will be missed dearly by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. Cameron was not only a role model, inspiration and great friend but one of the most amazing young men anyone could have been privileged enough to have known.
From a very young age Cameron was active in basketball, football, soccer, wrestling and had his first job at 14 years old. Throughout his teenage years he had summer jobs working for the City of Belle Fourche, Precision Concrete, and currently was working for Coyle Construction. He was a hard worker and fast learner and always knew the importance of working hard and being responsible.
He loved to go fishing with his friends and was a natural, always getting the first bite. Cameron loved being outside, loved dirt biking, four wheeling, hunting, and was a wonderful artist. He loved playing Xbox with his friends and spent many nights doing that. Cameron wanted to always be in the best of shape and lifted weights throughout high school.
Cameron graduated from Belle Fourche High School in May of 2011, attended South Dakota State University in the fall which was a new experience for him. He had accomplished so much in his 19 years and his spirit will live on. Cameron is the greatest son and brother and was our protector and will continue to protect us as our angel. Cameron has a tattoo on his chest that said “to face adversity takes courage” and that is him.
Survivors include his mother and sister, Dara and Kelsea Carlson, Belle Fourche; his father, Kevin Carlson, Belle Fourche; his first love and love of his life, Serena Kokesh; his maternal grandparents, Darrell and Dorothy Haffner of Rapid City; his paternal grandparents, Charles Carlson, Kadoka, and Shirley Bethancourt, Belle Fourche; his uncles, Clint (Nikki) Haffner and Jacob (Sonya) Haffner; and his aunt, Kayce (Jamie) Jones; and many more family members that loved him so.
