Boys' golf team takes first on home course
The Philip boys won the team title for the Philip-Wall boys high school golf invitational on Thursday, April 21. The meet, held at Lake Waggoner Golf Course, was shortened to nine holes due to the rainy weather.
Scotties’ Fred Foland won a four-person, two-hole playoff to earn the home medalist title. Foland shot a 40 in regulation before winning the playoff. Brit Miller earned third.
The Philip “Black” team ended with a score of 122. Fred Foland shot 40; Brit Miller - 40; Jordan Smith - 42; and Dak Carley - 43.
The Philip “Orange” team finished with 167. Allen Hauk and Andrew Brech each shot a 55; Rhett Roseth - 57; Chad Hanrahan - 58.
This meet called for the teams having four players each, with the three best scores being counted. There were 14 teams representing 11 schools.
The girls’ meet was started in Wall, but was cancelled due to heavy rain.
The Philip Scotties’ boys and girls teams next meet was in Pierre at The Trails Golf Course on Tuesday, April 26. The girls’ next meet will be at Custer’s Rocky Knolls Golf Course on May 5th. The boys will play at Red Rock in Rapid City on May 9th.
