Bessie Anna (Petr) Krogman, age 81, White River, SD, was born October 11, 1928, in White River, the daughter of Adolf and Bessie (Fott) Petr. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior, March 3, 2010, at Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN, with her daughter, Kristi, at her side.
Bessie's father immigrated to America from Czechoslovakia and Bessie grew up on the family homestead southwest of White River. She attended the Ringthunder Elementary Country School and went to White River High School graduating in 1946. She then attended one year at the National College of Business in Rapid City, SD.
Bessie met Harold at Pallmaters farm sale in 1946 and they were married December 1, 1947, in Winner, SD. They spent their first year living on the Louie Krogman ranch then returned to her family homestead. They were blessed with 62 plus years together. To this union four children were born, Harold Jr., Ed, Ben, and Kristi.
She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly, remembering each one on their birthday and made every holiday special. She enjoyed riding her four-wheeler, helping chase cattle, especially in the spring seeing all the new calves. She was often seen just cruising around going to pick eggs or deliver the mail. Her garden and flowers were beautiful, producing an abundance which she shared with family and many others in our community. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved doing laundry. She welcomed all into their home with a warm smile, coffee, cookies or a home cooked meal. Her chickens were special to her as she cared for them daily picking eggs for family and others.
Bessie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Riverview Club, United Methodist Church, Senior Citizens and many other organizations over the years.
Bessie is survived by her husband, Harold Krogman, Sr. of White River; son, Harold (Gail) Krogman of Mission; son, Edward (Susan) Krogman of White River; son, Ben (Wanda) Krogman of White River; and daughter, Kristi (Levi) Newbold of White River; 13 grandchildren and 23 great- grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
