Bernard W. Fennell
Bernard W. Fennell, "Bernie #1", went out front to smoke his pipe one last time on the afternoon of May 3, 2008. He had fought bravely for his life during his final two months following major surgery in February. We are so happy he was able to see Bernie #2 and most of his family, as well as his fiends, at Millie's during his last week with us.
Papa was a good man who loved his family, all things Irish, baseball, Notre Dame, Philip, South Dakota, smoking his pipe, chocolate, horseshoes, pecan pie at Dupars, ping pong, and corned beef and cabbage.
He will forever be missed by his wife of 55 years, Bernadette "Bernie #2"; his daughter, Tina; his son, John; his grandchildren, Megan (Frank), Shaun, Chelsea, Shannon, Brian (Sathya) and Brandon; and his great-grandchildren, Darby and Riley.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 10th at Bastion & Perrott Oswald Mortuary in Northridge, CA.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Edith "Babe" Fennell, and a brother, Charles.
Bernie graduated from Philip High School in 1941. Condolences may be sent to: John Fennell, 243 Anacona Ave., Goleta, CA 93117.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
