Bea Sumpter, 89, life long resident of Rapid City, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at her granddaughter’s home in Piedmont.
Bea enjoyed playing piano when she was young with her musical family. She also loved crossword and jigsaw puzzles, reading and listening to music.
She is survived by one son, Bob Moore and his special friend, Shirley Lannen, of Sturgis; one step-son, Bill Sumpter and his wife, Marsha, of Kadoka; five grandchildren, Jane Walsh and her husband, Frank, of Piedmont, Shelley Seager of Lemoyne, NE, Sandy May of Philip, Colleen Widmer and her husband, Paul, of Rapid City, and Mike Lannen and his wife, Andi, of Black Hawk; nine great-grandchildren, Karma, Eric, Zach, Amanda, Chase, Kelli, Jamie, Breanna and Austin; two great-great-granddaughters, Baylee and Rian; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Robert Moore and N.W. Sumpter; four brothers; and two great- granddaughters.
Services were held Monday, March 14, at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City with Pastor Donnie Williams officiating. Burial followed the service at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Northern Hills.
