Alice V. Bowman

Alice Virginia Bowman of Velva, ND, formerly of Belle Fourche, SD, passed away on July 17, 2004, in a Minot, ND, hospital.

Services will be held Thursday, July 22, at 10:00 a.m. at the Christian Life Center in Belle Fourche with interment to follow.

Alice was born on January 14, 1935, in Batesland, SD. She was the fourth of six children born to Fay and Annette (Lathrop) Coleman.

The Coleman family moved to the Philip area when she was a young child. Alice graduated from Quinn High School in 1953. She later attended Black Hills Teacher College where she received her teaching certificate.

During the 1953-54 school year, Alice taught at the Smith School in Haakon County.

On February 20, 1954 Alice was united in marriage to Donald Eugene Bowman. For most of their 50 years of marriage the couple resided in Belle Fourche, SD. They were blessed with four daughters. Alice and Donald retired and moved to Velva, ND, where they have resided for the past year.

Alice is survived by her by husband, Donald, of Velva; four daughters, Jeannie (Larry) Davis, Pierre, SD, Marlene (Stephen) Giesler, Green Bay, WI, Cindy (Brent) Jespersen, Bismarck, ND, Cheryl (Tommy) Jespersen, Velva, ND; grandchildren, Chad (Frances) Davis, Pierre, SD; Lana (Karter) Lesmann, Surrey, ND; Megan, Trent, Makayla Giesler, Green Bay, WI; Alicia, Letitia, Jena, Laura Jespersen, Bismarck, ND; Angela, Troy, Jedidiah, Roberta, Jesica, Jerimiah Jespersen, Velva, ND; great-grandchildren, Grady, Garrett, Gage Davis and Austin Lesmann; three brothers, Robert, Alvin, Marvin Coleman; and two sisters, Myrna Gottsleben and Patricia Aashiem.
