Miriam Louise Hallock, 78, Sturgis, died unexpectedly Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Sturgis Regional Hospital. This tragic loss is immeasurable for her family, her friends, and her community.
Miriam was born in St. Cloud, Minn. on January 15, 1935, to Newton and Louise (Howe) Olson, but she was a South Dakota girl through and through. She graduated from Rapid City Central in 1952, and after a brief stint trying out the "big city" life in Minneapolis, she returned to Philip, S.D. in the summer of 1954 where she met and married Morris Gene Hallock.

Susan Rankin, 56, of Draper died Thursday, January 31 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre.
Susan was born October 11, 1956, in Murdo, S.D., to Ray and Janice (Cressy) Pike. She grew up in Draper, graduating from Draper High School. After high school, she attended SDSU and received her Bachelors degree.

William E. “Ed” Cudmore, 89, passed away at his home in Spearfish, S.D., on January 28, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.
Ed was born February 14, 1923, to Ed and Ella (Gossard) Cudmore, the youngest of 12 children. He was raised on a farm north of White Lake, SD. Ed entered the U.S. Army on June 10, 1946, and served in the Philippine Islands during World War II. He was awarded the World War II Victory medal for his service to his country. Ed returned home from the service and helped his dad on the family farm.

LeRoy Edward Hardy, 91, Sturgis, died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Sturgis Regional Health Care Center.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis, with Pastor Denzel Nonhof officiating. Burial followed at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.
A memorial has been established to the First Presbyterian Church and the Western Dakota Antique Club.
