James Palecek was born September 16, 1925 in Winner, SD to Frank and Agnes (Usak) Palecek and passed away on May 28, 2012 at his home after a brief battle with cancer.

Nadyne I. (Mueller) Schoener of North Kingstown, Kan., died peacefully on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center.
Born in South Dakota, she was the daughter of the late Maxwell and Isabelle (Rousseau) Mueller. She was the wife of the late Donald P. Schoener.
Nadyne was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church of North Kingstown and was a member of the Sioux Nation.

Lynn Williams, age 90 of Wall, South Dakota, died May 28, 2012, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Lynn Williams was born March 24, 1922, north of Wall, South Dakota, the son of Frank and Hazel (Percy) Williams at their country home. He was raised on the family farm 20 miles north of Wall. He attended the Sunnyside School through the 8th grade and graduated from Wall High School in May of 1940. After graduation he moved with his brother, Bud, to Cottonwood, South Dakota, where he helped operate the Dr. Cowan ranch.
Lynn married Evelyn Knapp at Rapid City, South Dakota on May 12, 1945.

Violet Denke, age 85 of Rapid City, S.D., died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at the Golden Living Center Bella Vista in Rapid City.
Violet Geigle was born July 9, 1926, at her parents’ home north of Quinn, the daughter of Albert and Johanna (Hein) Geigle. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church north of Quinn.
Violet grew up and received her education in the Quinn area. She and her other sisters spent much time helping on their parents’ farm -ranch.

Morris Earl Sandal, age 82, of Rapid City, S.D., was born January 22, 1930, in Pierre to Arthur and Mildred (Wilsbacher) Sandal.
He grew up on the family farm in rural Hayes and attended Midland High School. He later lived in Sturgis where he raised a family. He was employed for 35 years with the State of South Dakota, with over 20 years as an inspector with the S.D. Public Utilities Commission. Upon his retirement in Rapid City, Morris became an avid golfer, playing with the Senior Men's League.

Donald L. Aby died Monday afternoon, May 21, 2012, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City.
Donald L. Aby, better known as Don to his family and friends, was born March 18, 1949, at Pierre, the son of Perry C. Aby, Sr. and Irma Mae (Masek) Aby. He grew up in the Owanka community where he began receiving his education at Owanka Rural School. He then attended one year of high school in New Underwood. The family moved to Philip where he graduated from Philip High School in 1968. During his high school years, he worked at a gas station for Tyrone Moos.

Robert John “Bob” Schnyder, Jr., the husband for nearly 48 years of former Philip resident, Alice Janet Minard, has died in California. He was 87.
Born January 8, 1925, in New Orleans, La., Bob grew up loving all kinds of sporting contests and would hop on his bike and ride around his area of the city until he found a game to play in. He became a student of many sports; and his enthusiasm, dedication, and natural athletic ability led to his winning awards and championships as a player in high school and college, and later, as a coach.

Peggy Benne, age 84, of Rapid City, S.D., formerly of Wall, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at her home in Rapid City.
Peggy Johnson was born May 12, 1928, in New Underwood, the daughter of Sam and Lila (Packman) Johnson. She was raised in Wall and graduated from Wall High School in 1946. She then went on to Black Hills Teacher’s College and got her teaching certificate.
