Dale M. Jarman__________________________________

Dale M. Jarman, age 79, of Midland, S.D., died Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Dale Merle Jarman was born June 27, 1934, at his parents’ homestead, three miles west of Nowlin the son of Merle F. and Borghild (Dale) Jarman. He grew up and received his education at the Nowlin School until the eighth grade, and then attended Midland High School, graduating in 1953. After graduation, he remained on the ranch with his parents.


Charles A. Willert, Sr.____________

Charles A. Willert, Sr., age 76, of Kadoka, S.D., died Monday, March 10, 2014, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Survivors include one daughter, Jackie Cavanaugh and her husband, William, of Riverton, Wyo.; one son, Charles A. “Chuck” Willert, Jr. and his wife, Ann, of Wasilla, Alaska; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Oliver Willert of Kadoka; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Patricia G. “Patsy” Freeman_________________________

Patricia G. “Patsy” Freeman, age 65, of Philip, S.D., died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Patricia G. “Patsy” Schofield was born on July 3, 1948, in Pierre, the daughter of Matthew V. “Mike” and Thelma Jean (Fosheim) Schofield. She grew up in Midland and attended school there until the 11th grade. She graduated from Philip High School in 1966 and afterwards attended Black Hills Teachers College. She was a rural school teacher in Murdo and Ft. Pierre.

Robert L. Young__________________________________

Robert Leroy Young, age 94, of Kadoka, S.D., died Monday, March 3, 2014, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Robert Leroy Young was born June 15, 1919, at Reeds Spring, Mo., the son of Edgar and Narcissus “Dude” (Smith) Young. At the age of five, he moved with his family to Pajaro Valley, Calif., where he received his education.

Edith “Thelma” Johannesen_________________________

Edith "Thelma" Johannesen, age 97, Quinn, S.D., died March 2, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Center in New Underwood.


February 6th

Ken Halligan__________________________________

Ken Halligan, 92 of Pierre, S.D., died Wednesday, January 29 at his home.
Kenneth William Halligan was born August 2, 1921, to Frank and Ethel (Rousch) Halligan at Cedar Butte. In 1931, they moved their family to Parmelee. Ken attended school at Running Bird for the first four years and transferred to Parmelee School after the move, remaining there through the 11th grade. His senior year was spent at Curtis, Neb., attending the Nebraska School of Agriculture.


Glen E. Allen___________________

Glen Eugene Allen, 76, formerly of Kennebec and Philip, S.D., died Saturday, January 25, 2014, at the home of Mary and Leo Gillen under hospice care in Mitchell.
Glen was born on August 28, 1937, to Lillian Marie (Huffendieck) and (Elin Gustav, his orignial Swedish name) Gustav Allen in a farmhouse 10 miles northwest of Presho, Lyman County.


Marsha Jean Veal_______________________________

Memorial services for Marsha Jean Veal, age 59, of Meadow, S.D., were held Friday, January 31, at the Bison school gym. Rev. Dana Lockhart officiated.


Michael W. Huether______________________________

Michael W. Huether, age 57, of Wall, S.D., died Wednesday evening, January 29, 2014, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Michael William Huether was born on November 15, 1956, in Quinn to William “Sonny” and Patricia “Patty” (Lyle) Huether.

Charlotte Kusiek Maxon___________________________

Charlotte Mae Maxon, 70, Fort Bridger, Wyo., passed away on January 5, 2014.
She was born on September 11, 1943, in Murdo, S.D., to Alex and Hazel (Dunker) Kusiek. She had two siblings, Don Kusiek and Luella Saunders.
After graduating high school in Brookings, Oregon, she went on to become a nurse and EMT. Charlotte helped many people during her time at the Evanston and Kemmerer hospitals, the Bridger Valley medical clinic, Mountain Regional Services and as a Bridger Valley EMT.
