Carol Ann Naescher

Carol Naescher, age 55 of Oacoma, S.D., died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain.
Carol Ann Pederson was born June 23, 1957 in Nuremberg, Germany, the daughter of Gordon Roy and Betty Lou (Ballard) Pederson of Wall. Graduating in 1975, Carol attended Wall High School where she made many friends, was a cheerleader and excelled on its track team whose records can still be seen on the gymnasium walls of the school. She then attended two years of college at Huron.

Mary Rose Haughian

On March 11, 2013, Mary Rose Kasten Haughian died peacefully at Holy Rosary Extended Care.
She was born on June 26, 1925, to Richard and Mary Ellen (Dwyer) Kasten in the upstairs of Mrs. Ryan’s dress shop in Ismay, Mont. Bob Askin and Patty Ryan said she was the prettiest baby ever born in Ismay. Her brother Joe was born three years later.

Will Schofield

Will Schofield, age 58, of Midland, S.D., died March 15, 2013, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
William Ray Schofield was born November 6, 1954, in Pierre, the son of Harry H. “Hank” and Eva Pauline (Fosheim) Schofield. He was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Midland. He attended school through 10th grade in Midland.

Earl J. “E.J.” Root

Services for Earl J. “E.J.” Root, 88, a longtime Casper, Wyo., resident were held March 12, 2013, at the Oregon Trail Veteran
Cemetery, Evansville, Wyo., with military honors.
He died March 6, 2013, at Central Wyoming Hospice after a lengthy illness.
Earl, the eldest son of seven children was born in Capa, S.D., to Earl Charles Root and Helen Elizabeth (Waller) Root, on June 22, 1924. He was raised and educated in Midland, South Dakota. While attending High School he was active in sports, lettering in both football and basketball.

Rita Narcisian

Rita Narcisian, age 73, of Golden, Colo., died March 15, 2013, in Colorado.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Narcisian of Golden; two brothers, Charles “Chuck” O’Connor and his wife, Shirley, of Philip, and Francis James “Jim” O’Connor and his wife, Phyllis, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a sister-in-law, Sandra O’Connor of Philip; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, James Francis “FJ” and Catherine Anna (Murphy) OConnor; one brother, Bill O’Connor; and one sister, Paula O’Connor.
Memorial services are pending.

Keith Herrman

On February 26, 2013, Keith Herrman heard the words, “Well done thou good and faithful servant,” as he entered into the joy of the Lord. A longtime resident of the Connell, Wash., area, Keith will be greatly missed by many.

Terry Gartner

Terry Gartner, age 64 of Interior, S.D., died Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Terry was born February 7, 1949, at Rapid City to Wallace Frances and Margaret Rose (O'Neal) Gartner.
He graduated from Interior High School and later married Shirley Lange Gartner. They made their home in various places throughout his life but primarily at Interior.

Elinor M. McGrath

Elinor Marie McGrath was born November 12, 1923, in Custer, S.D., to Oliver and Margaret King. Elinor passed away on February 13, 2013.

Denisse Florine Lutz

Mass of Christian Burial for Denisse Florine Lutz, age 79, of Rapid City, SD were held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Faith, SD.  Fr. Jim Hoerter officiated with burial following at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery west of Faith, SD.
A Rosary/Vigil service was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Faith.
Pallbearers were sons Jim, John and Richard Barry and nephews Steven Simon, David Henry and Timothy Donald Lutz.

John A. Peters

John August Peters, 72, formerly of the Midland and Murdo area, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at the Custer Regional Senior Care, only after playing (and winning) one last game of cribbage with his “favorite” niece, Lynette.
He was born on January 14, 1941, to Walter and Helen (Buchanan) Peters in Murdo, S.D. He attended grade school in Midland and attended high school in Murdo.
John served in the United States Navy and Army from 1958 to 1960 where he received an honorable discharge.
