Jeannette C. Gebes, 92, of Batavia, Ill., passed away October 13, 2012, at her daughter’s residence surround by her loving family.
She was born January 10, 1920 in Naperville, Ill., the daughter of Michael and Barbara (nee Besch) Lies.
Jeannette was employed by Furnas electric for several years and also worked at the Louise White School in the cafeteria for many years. She lived in Philip, S.D., from 1945 to 1964 and worked at the Midway Cafe for several years.

Terry A. Karrels, age 58, of Broadus, Mont., died Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Terry A. Trask was born June 10, 1954, at Rapid City, the daughter of Mark and Winifred “Winnie” (O’Connell) Trask. She grew up on the Spanish Five Ranch in the Cheyenne River breaks and Elk Creek in the Elm Springs community.
Terry attended country school in that area and high school at St. Martin’s Academy in Rapid City where she graduated in 1972. She then attended South Dakota State University in Brookings.

Earthly life for Percy James Bekken ended October 25, 2012 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
He was the youngest child born in Belle Fourche, South Dakota to Tillman C Bekken and Marrietta (Robinson) Bekken on June 27, 1961. He joined a sister Lorretta and a brother, John.

Wendell R. Hagan, 85, of Rapid City and formerly of Midland, S.D., reunited with the Lord on October 25, 2012, at the Ft. Meade VA Medical Center Hospice with his family at his side.
Wendell Rex Hagan was born on October 19, 1927, the son of Pat and Ethyl (Dennis) Hagan at Bunker.
Wendell served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was united in marriage to Grace (Stotts) on September 4, 1948. They farmed and ranched in the Midland area for many years.

Harold Clifford Finck, 82, died peacefully at Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House on Saturday, October 27, 2012, surrounded by his family.
Harold was born August 30, 1930, in Murdo, S.D., to Harry and Marie (Schellenberger) Finck. He was the youngest of nine children, and was raised and attended schools in Jones County. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Des Moines from 1950-1954.

Barbara Stone, 79, of Kadoka, S.D., died Sunday, October 28, 2012, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Barbara Ann Hedeen was born August 2, 1933, in Kadoka, the daughter of Roy M. and Margaret (Nielsen) Hedeen. She grew up in Kadoka, graduating from Kadoka High School in 1951.
Barbara was united in marriage to Eldon “Gene” Stone on June 8, 1953, in Rapid City, and they were happily married for 58 years.
She lived most of her life in Kadoka, except for about 20 years, when she moved with Gene as he found more exciting teaching and coaching positions.

Linda Lee Wilkie, 59, of Rapid City, S.D., died on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Linda was born in Rapid City on June 17, 1953, to Ed and Opal (Anderson) Bodkin. She grew up in the Billsburg/Milesville area and then the family moved to Philip, where she graduated from high school in 1971 and from Karl John’s Beauty College in 1973.
Linda married William “Bill” Wilkie on December 26, 1973. Bill and Linda had four children, Tanya, Tracy, Travis and Sherri.

Arlene LaVonne Kolbu, 84, Sturgis and formerly of Red Owl, died Thursday, October 25, 2012, at her home in Sturgis.
Visitation was held on Tuesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with a service at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the Union Center Community Baptist Church in Union Center with Pastor Wes Lebrier officiating. Burial follows at Pleasant View Cemetery near Red Owl.
A memorial has been established to the Red Owl Hall.

Sidney Eugene Schad was a man of the Earth. Nothing pleased him more than farming from its planting stage to harvesting the swaying grain and heavy sunflower heads. Sidney was born March 31, 1948 in Pierre, South Dakota to Donald A. and Helen S. (Anderson) Schad.
