Philip Health Services, Inc. is hosting another physician assistant student. Derek Harmon started his first rotation, in Philip, October 17 and will continue through November 23.

Though under the main tutelage of Dr. Coen Klopper, "I kind of bounce around. They all seem to take care of me," said Harmon. "People know I want to learn and they are taking advantage of that. I have never been treated so respectfully in my life."

"I think he's a good kid," said Klopper.

The South Dakota Masonic District 15 meeting was held in Wall, Thursday, October 27. The district includes Philip Lodge #153, Wall Lodge #210, Kadoka Lodge #155 and Martin Lodge #219.

The meeting was open, thus wives of attending Masons and other guests were welcome. Wall Lodge Grand Master Grant Shearer lead the pledge of allegience, and the opening prayer was said. Then Shearer introduced District Grand Master Doug Thorson, Philip.

An area three miles west of Philip on the north side of Highway 14 has been used for decades by local target shooters. That shooting range, recently upgraded by the Bad River Sportman's Club, is open for use by all safety-minded shooters.

The newly named Thompson Shooting Range now has a backstop at 100 yards, made of thick railroad bridge beams. Two concrete shooting tables have been erected on top of a large concrete slab. The improvements come courtesy of the Bad River Sportsman's Club.
