The Philip boys' basketball team hosted the Kadoka Area Kougars on Friday, February 22nd.

The Philip Lady Scotties had defeated the White River Tigers in a close 52-50 match in the last regular season basketball game.

In Philip's first matchup in District 15B play, the Scotties lost to White River in a close 50-52 match. The Monday, February 18th, game put Philip out of the running for the following competitions hosted by White River on Tuesday, February 19th, and Thursday, February 21st.

At districts, the Lady Scotties could not hold on to the lead during the first quarter, but ended the first half with a three point advantage.

This year's State "B" Wrestling Tournament was held on Friday and Saturday, February 22nd and 23rd, in Sioux Falls.

At the district tournament, all 14 varsity members of the Philip team earn the right to compete at regions.

A series of study circles initiated by the Haakon County Public Library Board of Directors will begin this week to gain a clear vision of library services needed in Haakon County.

Six study circle groups will meet three times each in the next few weeks. Four of the study circles will be comprised of residents in and near Philip and one each in the Milesville and Midland areas.

The Minuteman Missile National Historic Site has hired John Black as the site's first facility operations specialist.

Black, a National Park Service employee for nine years, has been selected to fill this new position at the former military installation. He will assume his new responsibilities effective March 17.
