Lonny Loyd Carlson, age 54, of Kadoka, South Dakota, died Monday morning, August 13, 2007, in Kadoka.

Lonny Loyd Carlson was born May 12, 1953, in Kadoka, South Dakota, the son of Leonard and Lillian (Erickson) Carlson. He grew up on his parents' ranch northeast of Kadoka, where he attended grade school at South Creek Country School graduating from the eighth grade. He then attended Kadoka High School, graduating in 1971.

Lonny was united in marriage to Tammy O'Bryan Prang on January 3, 1976, and to this union were born three children, Jessy James, Frank James, and Lonnie Jo.

John R. Ernst, age 84, passed away suddenly at home in Bullhead City, Arizona, on July 23, 2007.

John, born January 14, 1923, was a farmer and rancher near Midland. He moved to Pierre in 1967 and California in 1980, working as a plumber until retirement.

Dorothy Elizabeth Merchen was born on April 15, 1922, in Crofton, NE, to William (Fred) and Josephine Irene (Cummings) Merchen.

She passed away in her sleep on Thursday, August 9, 2007.

Services were held August 15, 2007, at the Assembly of God Church in Winner, SD, with Pastor Randy Hahne officiating.

Pallbearers were Ross Brunskill, Tom Cuny, Neil Lantz, Shawn Iversen, Jay Keever and Kyle Manke. Music was provided by Teresa Yeamen, soloist, and Joanne Jerrod, pianist.

Interment was in the Winner Cemetery.

Jamie Crew, 19, is the daughter of ranchers Grady and Bernice Crew and when she is not riding the range, she is a student at the University of Wyoming.

The Haakon/Jackson County Livestock show was held on Saturday, August 4, with 16 youth from the two counties participating. The show began with the sheep, followed by the goat and then finished with the cattle.
