Head coach Doug Hauk and members of his Scottie boys' and girls' teams have been practicing and are getting ready to start their 2007 golf season.

The Philip boys' golf team has 14 players. Two have state experience, Caleb Clements and Jordan Smith. Smith placed at the state tournament last year. Allen Hauk and Kolby Longbrake are returning as other members from last years varsity team.

Irvin S. Severson, age 95, of Kadoka, died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the Kadoka Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at the Presbyterian Church in Kadoka, with Pastor Gary McCubbin officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour preceding the services at the church on Thursday.

Interment will be at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery north of Murdo.

Irvin Severson was born to Andrew Severson and Celia (Mitchell) Severson on September 13, 1911, in Van Metre, SD.

Robert "Bud" Jeffries died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at the Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care Center.

Another old cowboy has been called home; he leaves behind some big boots to fill.

Services were held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, at the Pioneer Hall in Dupree, with Pastor Fay Garreau officiating.

Music was provided by Butch Samuelson, pianist, and Mitzi Hunt, vocalist. Ushers were Mark and Marvin Garrett.

Calvin L. "Cal" Swift, age 82, of Philip, died Thursday evening, March 22, 2007, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.

Services were held Monday, March 26, at the United Church in Philip, with Pastor Mark Ford officiating.

Music was provided by Barry and Edna Knutson. Ushers were Bud Stickler and Marvin Kahl.

Alice Beckwith, age 87, of Kadoka, died Sunday, March 25, 2007, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.

Services were held Wednesday, March 28, at the Presbyterian Church in Kadoka, with Pastor Gary McCubbin officiating.

Organist for the service was Freddie Heck, and vocalists were Boyd and Pat Porch, Lyndy Ireland and Joyce Wheeler. Ushers were Larry Dolezal and Darrel Batie. Pallbearers were Brian Jay Beckwith, Sheldon Louis Beckwith, Megan Eloise Beckwith, Norman Amiotte, Ray Berry and Ronald Barber.

Arlene Joyce Albin, age 66, of Wall, died Friday, March 23, 2007, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 30, at the First Lutheran Church in Wall, with Pastor Monty Dell officiating.

Interment will follow at the Wall Cemetery.

Music will be provided by Rhonda Mettler, organist, Norman Eisenbraun and Angela Nellen, vocalists, with congregational hymns. Ushers were Dan Dartt and Roger Fortune.

Arlene Joyce Harmdierks was born December 3, 1940, in Lane, SD, the daughter of George and Lena (Schroeder) Harmdierks.

Anyone who has stepped foot onto a track at a Relay For Life has felt the impact that a single event can have on a community. The Quad-County Relay For Life originated in Philip, July 2003. The annual relay event has also been hosted by the communities of Wall and Kadoka. Since its inception, the four counties (Haakon, Jackson, Jones and East Pennington) have united in the cause to eliminate cancer. Over $200,000 has been raised by these communities.

The overnight camp-out is filled with activities, entertainment, fun and food; making this an enjoyable evening for every age group.

It's been more than a year, early October, 2005, when Scotchman Industries started using its first Mazak Palletech Horizontal Machining Cell.

On March 26, 2007, the ironworker manufacturing company in Philip received delivery of a second such machine.

The two computerized systems for manufacturing parts for hydrolic ironworkers will operate separately from each other.

"We actually changed our name from Moodie Implement last Friday. We answered the phones 'Grossenburg Implement' on Saturday and some callers hung up, thinking they had the wrong number," said Joe Woitte, who remains the service manager and is also now the new general manager of Grossenburg Implement in Philip.

Some things will remain the same at the implement company. All 16 employees at the Philip store will remain with the new organization.
