Brian J. Feddersen, age 23 of Murdo, S.D., died Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at his home in Murdo.

Brian James Feddersen was born January 14, 1988, in Pierre.

Brian, son of Milton and Judy (Krueger) Feddersen, spent most of his life in Murdo where he attended Jones County School. Growing up, Brian enjoyed spending time with his family outdoors fishing because it gave him time to explore.

As Brian began to start high school he fell in love with the sport of football as you could tell by the heart he displayed on the field.

To discuss the plans to possibly close the Milesville Post Office, an meeting has been scheduled by United States Postal Service (USPS) officials. The open meeting is set for 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Milesville Hall.

USPS representatives will be present to discuss with community members the need for the Milesville Post Office. All persons who are concerned about the services provided by the Milesville Post Office are encouraged to attend.

Friday, September 2, was the last official day of the Small Pine Daycare, owned and operated by Philip Health Services, Inc.

Tuesday, September 6, was the first official day of the Wee Won Day Care. Erin Fitzgerald is the new owner of the business, building and land at 516 W. Pine Street, Philip. She is the manager and the sole full-time employee of the center. Hours will be 6:00 a.m.

Philip High School's 2011 Scottie football team was under media scrutiny Tuesday, August 23.

During practice that day, the athletes of the nine-man Class "B" Scotties football team were video recorded, and head coach Keven Morehart was interviewed by two personalities of a fledgling sports website.

After two long weeks of two-a-day practices, the Philip Scotties cross country team began their 2011 season.

Saturday, August 27, the Midland City Park was this year's site for the Quad County Relay For Life, an annual cancer awareness program and fundraiser to help pay for research to find a cure and prevention for cancer.

Teams of volunteers were joined by scores of individuals at noon to begin setting up team camps. Registration of cancer survivors began at 2:00 p.m.

Opening ceremonies began at 4:30 p.m.

The Haakon School District's 2011-2012 Scottie Homecoming will be September 5-10, beginning with coronation at 6:30 p.m., Labor Day, Monday, September 5.

The candidates for Homecoming queen are Josie Guptill, Kianna Knutson and Sayde Slovek. The king candidates are Colter Cvach, Trey DeJong and Jade Konst.
